Write the formula to find the magnitude of gravitational force between the earth and an object on the surface of the earth.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Consider two bodies A and B of masses `m_(1)` and `m_(2)` separated by a distance R, then
`F prop m_(1) xx m_(2)`
or, `F prop (m_(1) xx m_(2))/(R^(2))`
or, `F = G(m_(1)m_(2))/(R^(2))`
where, G is called the universal gravitational constant.
