Gravitational force acts on all objects ...

Gravitational force acts on all objects in proportion to their masses. Why then, a heavy object does not fall faster than a light object ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

An object experiences acceleration during free fall denoted by .g.. It is given by `g = (G M)/(R^(2))`, where G = Gravitational constant, M = Mass of the earth, R= Radius of the earth. Thus, it is independent of mass. Hence a heavy body does not fall faster than a light body.
