What is the audible range of average human ear?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Human ear sensitive to sound intensity ranging from 0- 180 dB (decibel).
(ii) The human ear is sensitive to only those vibrations whose frequency lies between 20 hertz (20Hz) to 20,000 hertz (or 20 kilohertz, 20kHz). This frequency range of hearing from 20Hz-20kHz, is called audible range. Sound waves having frequencies above 20,000Hz and below 20Hz cannot be heard by the normal human ear.
