There are three types of friction :
(i) Static friction: It is the friction between two surfaces when the object starts moving from its state of rest.

(ii) Sliding friction: It is the friction between two surfaces when the object is already in motion or when an object is sliding over another objects or surface.

(iii) Rolling friction : It is the friction between two objects when one object is rolling over another object or surface.
