How is sound produced?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) The vibrating object produces sound.
(ii) When vibration is produced in the air, sound travels from one place to another through the air particles. For propagation from one place to another, sound needs a medium (gas, liquid or solid). It cannot travel in vacuum.
(iii) The eardrums of our ears sense the vibrations of a vibrating body producing sound and send them to the brain. This process is called hearing.
(iv) Some sounds are louder than others because this sound has larger amplitude of vibration than that of other. So, some sounds are louder than others.
