A student performs an experiment to study the magnetic effect of current around a current carrying straight conductor with the help of a magnetic compass. He reports that The direction of deflection of the magnetic compass increases when the current through the conductor is increased. Which of the above observations of the student appears to be wrong and why?

A rectangular loop has a sliding connector PQ of length l and resistance R. It is moving with a speed v as shown in the figure. The set up is placed in a uniform magnetic field goping into the plane of the paper. The three currents I_1 , I_2 and I are

A current through a wire PQ is increasing. In which direction the induced current flows in the closed loop?

The figure shows certain wire segments joined together to form a coplanar loop. The loop is placed in a perpendicular magnetic field in the direction going into the plane of the figure. The magnitude of the field increases with time I_(1) and I_(2) are the currents in the segments ab and cd. Then,

A rectangular loop PQRS made from a uniform wire has length a, width b and mass m. It is free to rotate about the arm PQ, which remains hinged along a horizontal line taken as the y-axis (see figure). Take the vertically upward direction as the z-axis. A uniform magnetic field vec(B) = (3 hat(i) + 4hat(k)) B_(0) exists in the region. The loop is held in the x-y plane and a current I is passed through it. The loop is now released and is found to stay in the horizontal position in equilibrium What is the direction of the current I in PQ?

When a conducting loop of resistance 10 Omega and area 10 cm^2 is removed from an external magnetic field acting normally, the variation of induced current in the loop with time is shown in the figure. Find the total charge passed through the loop.

Two wires of equal lengths are bent in the form of two loops. One of the loops is a square shaped whreas the other loop is circular. These are suspended in a uniform magnetic field and the same current is passed through them. Which loop will experience greater torque? give reasons.

When a conducting loop of resistance 10 Omega and area 10 cm^2 is removed from an external magnetic field acting normally, the variation of induced current in the loop with time is shown in the figure. Find the change in magnetic flux through the loop.
