Sulphur combines with hydrogen and oxyge...

Sulphur combines with hydrogen and oxygen to give `H_2S"and "SO_2` respectively. In what ratio will `H_2` and `O_2` combine to from `H_(2)O`?

Text Solution

`S + H _(2) to H _(2) S " " S:H ` ratio `= 32 : 2`
`S + O _(2) toSO _(2) " " S : O` ratio ` = 32 : 32`
When `H _(2) and O _(2)` combines, the ratio will be `2: 32` or `1: 16` or its multiple . In `H _(2)O` the ratio is `1:8.`
