In this reaction, `BiO_(3)^(-)` is reduced by accepting electrons which are donated by `Mn^(2+)` that is getting oxidized. The balanced equation is: ` 2Mn^(2+) + 5 BiO_(3)^(-) + 14 H^(+) to 2MnO_(4)^(-) + 5 Bi^(3+) + 7 H_2 O`
From the balanced equation, it is clear that total of 10 electrons are involved in the reaction, and 2.8 mol of `H^(+)` are required by per mole of `BiO_(3)^(-)`
