In the dry seed, when the embryo occurs in the state of inactivity is called as seed dormanc Advantages.
(i) It helps in perennation as it enables the future plant to pass through unfavourable period
(ii) Seeds can be stored for later use. This ensures the supply of food throughout the year an to overcome drought and famine conditions.
