How does endosperm of angiosperms become triploid ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Endorperm in Angiosperm is formed as a result of triple fusion or vegetative fertilisation. It invovles fusion of male gamete with 2 haploid polar nuclei, forming triploid PEN present in Primary Enderperm Cell (PEC). This later with repeated division form multicellular, triploid nutritive tissue called endosperm.
