Why is cattle dung used to produce biogas ?

Cattle dung is rich in methanogens like Methanobacterium which are normally found in rumen of cattle for helping in digestion of cellulose. These methanogens anaerobically help in decompontion of organic matter and release. biogas rich in methane (50-75%), other components like `CO_2` (25-35%), `H_2` (1-5%), `N_2` (2-7%) and `H_2S` in traces.
