Kharasch effect. The addition of HBr (büt Tiot HC1 or HI) to unsymmetrical a lkene in the presence of organic peroxide such as benzoyl peroxide takes place contrary to Markownikoff.s rule. This is known as Kharasch effect or peroxide effect or Anti Markownikoff s rule.
