Give chemical test to distinguish between following pair of compounds.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

To distinguish between these two compounds add a small quantity of aqueous KOH to each compound. Acidify with dilute `HNO_3` and add `AgNO_3` (ag). Chlorocyclohexane or cyclohexyl chloride being an alkyl halide and hence more reactive will give a white ppt. of AgCl while no ppt. will be formed in case of chlorobenzene an aryl halide and hence less reactive.
