Carbylammide reaction : This reactions is given only by `1^@` amines both aliphatic and aromatic. `1^@` amines when heated with chloroform and alcoholic KOH form isocyanides or carbylamines, which are foul smelling substance. `2^@` and `3^@` amines do not give this reaction. This reaction is known as carbylamine reaction or isocyanide test and is used as a test for `1^@` amines. For example,
