What are the different products formed when methane and chlorine are made to react in the presence of sunlight.

Methane reacts with chlorine in the presence. of sunlight to form chloromethane and hydrogen chloride.
`underset("Methane")(CH_4) + underset("Chlorine")(Cl_2) overset("sunlight")to underset("Chloromethane or Methyl chloride")(CH_3Cl)+ underset("Hydrogen chloride")(HCl)`
In the above reaction, one H atom of methane has been substituted by a Cl atom, converting `CH_4` into `CH_3Cl`.
Therefore, this is called a substitution reaction. With excess of chlorine, it is possible to replace all the „ hydrogen atoms of methane one by one to form a number of products as shown below:
