Beaker (I) - Common salt Beaker (II) - Alum Beaker (III) - Potassium nitrate Beaker (IV)- A few drops of barium chloride and a few drops of dilute `H_2 SO_4`. After sometime, the contents of the beakers were filtered. The contents of which beaker will leave residue on the filter paper?

A

Beaker (I)

B

Beaker (II)

C

Beaker (III)

D

Beaker (IV)

A student added the following substances to water kept in four separate beakers. He stirred the mixture well and filtered each one of them through a filter paper. He would obtain a solid residue on the filter paper in the case of :

Two beakers of capacity 500 mL were taken. One of these beakers, labelled as "A" was filled with 400 mL water whereas the beaker labelled "B" was filled with 400 mL of 2M solution of NaCl. At the same temperature both the beakers ware placed in containers os same material and same capacity as shown in figure.

Three beakers labelled as A, B and C each containing 25 mL of water were taken. A small amount of NaOH, anhydrous CuSO_(4) and NaCl were added to the beakers A, B and C respectively. It was observed that there was an increase in the temperature of the solutions contained in beakers A and B, whereas in case of beaker C, the temperature of the solution falls. Which one of the followig statement (s) is (are) correct? 1. In beakers A and B, exothermic process has occurred. 2. In beakers A and B, endothermic process has occurred. 3. In beaker C, exothermic process has occurred. 4. In beaker C, endothermic process has occurred.

Prachi took 50 mL of water in two beakers at room temperature and added sodium chloride to one beaker while sugar to the other, till no more solute would dissolve. Then she heated the contents of the beakers and added more solutes in them. (a) Will the amount of salt and sugar that can be dissolved in water at given temperature same ? (b) What will you expect to happen if she cools the contents of the beakers ? Justify your answer.
