With a suitable activity show that sulphur burns in air to form a compound which is acidic in nature.

Explanation

(i) Take a small amount of sulphur powder in a spoon or a spatula.
(ii) Burn this powder by placing a tube in an inverted position over the spatula.
(iii) Fumes produced as a result of burning will get collected into the tube.
(iv) Invert the tube and immediately put small amount of water in it.
(v) Add a strip of blue litmus paper in it. it turns red. this shows that the solution is acidic in nature.
