Most of the space in an atom is empty. Justify.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

This can be justified by Rutherford.s A-scattering experiment. Since most of the alpha particles could pass through the sheet, made up of atoms of gold, undeflected, this means that they did not come across any obstruction. Thus, most of the space in an atom is empty or hollow.
