Rohit and Mayuri conducted two experiments to study the types of chemical reactions as shown in the given figures.

They recorded their observations as :
I. In experiment 1, yellow residue is left behind while in experiment 2 reddish brown solid is left behind.
II. In both experiments, two different gases were given out.
III. The colourless gas evolved in experiment 1 extinguishes the glowing splint while the gas evolved in experiment 2 turns green solution of acidified `KMnO_(4)` orange.
IV. X is reddish brown gas while gases Y and Z both have burning sulphur smell.
The incorrect observation(s) is/are

A

IV only

B

III only

C

I and III only

D

II and III only

The correct Answer is:
B

Experiment 1 :
`2Pb(NO_(3))_(2)overset(Delta)tounderset("Yellow")(2PbO_((s)))+4NO_(2)+O_(2)`
Experiment 2 :
`FeSO_(4)*7H_(2)Ooverset(Delta)tounderset("White")(FeSO_(4))+7H_(2)O`
`2FeSO_(4)overset(Delta)tounderset("Brown")(Fe_(2)O_(3))+SO_(2)+SO_(3)`
The colourless gas evolved in experiment 1 `(O_(2))` rekindles the glowing splinter and gas evolved in experiment 2 `(SO_(2))` turns purple solution of acidified `KMnO_(4)` to colourless.
