Strong base : A base which dissociates completely in the aqueous solution to produce a large amount of `OH^(-)` ions is called a strong base For example , sodium hydroxide `(NaOH)` and potassium hydroxide (KOH) .
Weak base : A base which dissociates only partically in the aqueous solution and hence gives only a small amount of `OH^(-)` ions is called a weak base For example , ammonium hydroxide `(NH_(4)OH)` and calcium hydroxide , `Ca(OH)_(2)` .
