You have a bag of cotton and an iron bar, each indicating a mass of 100 kg when measured of a weighing machine. In reality, one is heavier than the other. Can you say which one is heavier and why?

Text Solution

We known that true weight `=` apparent weight `+` upthurst . The cotton bag is heavier than the iron bar. This is due to the reason that the bag of cotton which has more volume (as it has less density) experiencces more upthurst due to air.

  • The molecular mass of a substance is the relative mass of its molecule as compared with the mass of a carbon-12 atom taken as 12 units. The molecular mass of a substance indicates the number of times one molecule of a substance is heavier than (1)/(12) th of C-12 atom. It is equal to the sum of atomic masses of all the atoms present in a molecule. Depending on the number of atoms of same or different elements present in the molecule, it can be monoatomic, diatomic, triatomic, tetraatomic or a poly-atomic molecule. Which is an example of a poly-atomic molecule?

    A
    `S_(8)`

The following question is followed by two statements named I and II. You have to decide, if these statements are sufficient to answer the asked questions and mark the correct option. Who among P, Q, R, S and T each one having different weight is the third heaviest? I. Q is heavier than R and S. T is heavier only than P. II. Only three are lighter than R. The weight of Q is 50kg which is 2kg more than R. S is heavier only than P and T.

In this sectences is given . The sentences are indicated in three separate parts and each one is labelled (a), (b) and (c) . Read each sentences to find out whether there is ab error in any part .No sentence has more than one error . When you find an error in any one of the parts(a) , (b) or (c) . indicates your response on the seprate answer sheet at the appropriate space. You may feel that there is no error ina sentence in that case, letter(d) will signify a 'No error' response. ("Do you know")/a ("how old were you")/b ("when you came here?")/c ("No error")/d .
