A sound wave travels at a speed of `339 m//s`. If its wavelength is `1.5 cm`, what is the frequency of the wave ? Will it be audible ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, speed of sound wave, `v= 339"m s"^(-1)`
Wavelength of sound wave,
`lambda = 1.5"cm" =1.5 xx 10^(-2)"m"`
Frequency of the sound wave, `upsilon = (v)/(lambda) = (339)/(1.5 xx 10^(-2) ) = 22600` Hz
The sound is not audible as its frequency lies beyond the audible range (20 Hz to 20000 Hz).
