A large auditorium has a curved back. Explain.

This is done to send sound waves parallel so that these waves can be heard over a large distance. The wall is so curved that the speaker is at the focus of this curved surface. Obviously, the sound waves emitted by the speaker after reflection from the curved surface become parallel.
