A particle moves `3 m` north , then `4 m` east and finally ` 6m` south . Calculate the distance travelled and the displacement.

A

13 m

B

15 m

C

17 m

D

20 m

The correct Answer is:
A

Let us consider, the particle starts from O and moves 3 m north ( = OA) , 4 m east (- AB) and 6 m south (= BC) as shown in figure
`:.` Distance travelled = OA + AB + BC = 3 + 4 + 6 = 13 m
