The velocity-time graph of a ball moving on the surface of a floor as shown in figure. Calculate the force acting on the force acting on the ball, if mass of the ball is 200g.

The graph shows that the velocity of the ball at t = 0 is 0
`rArr` Initial velocity of the ball = u = 0
from the graph , final velocity of the ball after 4 seconds
`= v = 20 m s^(-1)`
Mass of the ball ` = m = 200 g = (200)/(1000) kg = (1)/(5) kg`
Force acting on the ball = F = ?
We know that, F = ma = m ` ((v - u)/( t)) " ". . . (i)`
Substituting the given values in eq. (i) , we have
Force acting on the ball = F = ma ` = (1)/(5) ((20 - 0)/( 4)) = (1)/(5) xx 5 = 1 N`
Therefore net force acting on the ball is 1 N
