How is sound produced and how is it transmitted and heard by us?

Explanation

Sound is produced by vibrating objects. For example, stretched string of Veena or air column of flute vibrate to produce sound. In humans, the vocal cords vibrate to produce sound. Sound needs a medium for propagation. It requires a medium. i.e., solid, liquid or gas to transmit. It cannot travel through vacuum. When sound enters our ear, it travels down to eardrum which is like a stretched rubber sheet. Sound vibrations make the eardrum vibrate. The eardrum sends the vibration to the inner ear, from where the signal goes to the brain. That is how we hear.
