What is sublimation? Give three examples of substances which sublime on heating.

A few substances change directly from solid state into vapour form without becoming liquid. This process is called sublimation. The gas in turn directly changes back into solid which is called deposition. Sublimation of ammonium chloride can be shown by setting an apparatus as shown in the figure.
