How would you account for the following : Sulphur has a great tendency for catenation than oxygen.

As we move from S to Se the atomic size increase and hence the strength of Se-Se bond decrease. As a result S-S bond is much stronger than Se - Se bond and consequently. S show greater tendency for catenation than selenium.
