A metal and semiconductor material ...

A metal and semiconductor material are cooled .What happens to their conductivities and why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Conductivity of a metal such as copper increases when it is cooled due to decrease in its resistance .
Conductivity of semi conductor .s as germaium decrease on its cooling because energy gap between conduction band and valance band increases on cooling (with decrease in temperature ) .
