How does the reactivity of the metals vary in a group?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On moving down the group, the number of occupied shells, increases and the effective nuclear charge experienced by,valence electrons decreases because the outermost electrons are, farther away from the nucleus. Thus, these can be lost easily. Hence, metallic character increases down a group.
