A cricket ball of mass 70 g moving with a velocity of 0.5 m/s is stopped by a player in 0.5 s. What is the force applied by the player to stop the ball ?

Mass of the ball, m= 70 g
`=(70)/(1000)kg=0.07kg`
Velocity of the ball, v = 0.5 m/s
Time = 0.5 second.
Momentum of ball before stopping = mv `=0.07xx0.5kgms^(-1)`
Momentum of ball after stopping = 0
Let force opplied by the player to stop the ball = F
`therefore" "F="change in momentum"/"time"`
`=(0.07xx0.5-0)/(0.5)N`
`=0.07N`
