A car of mass 1000 kg moving with a velocity of 45 km/h collides with a tree and comes to a stop in 5 s. What will be the force exerted by the car on the tree?

Mass of the car, m = 1000 kg.
Intial velocity of the car, u = 45 km/hr
`=(45xx1000)/(60xx60)m//s`
`=(25)/2m//s`
Time, t = 5 s
Final velocity of the car, v = 0
Let force exerted by the car on the tree = F
`therefore" "` F= Rate of change of momentum
`=(mv-mv)/t`
`=(1000xx(25)/2-100xx0)/5N`
`=(1000)/5xx(25)/2N=2500N`
