Water containing some potash alum is hard water because sulphates present in the potash alum are responsible for hardness of water. Water obtained by zeolite process is not pure water. It removes only `Ca^(2+)` and `Mg^(2+)` ions, that is, hardness of water but it cannot remove any microbes present in the water.
