An open vessel contains air at `29^(@)C`. To what temperature it must be heated to expel one-third of the air?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the volume of the vessel = 11 , Initial no. of moles = `n_(1)` . Final no. of mols , `n_(2) = (2//3) n_(1)`
`T_(1) = 273 + 29 = 302 K`
Since P and V are constants nRT = constant
`n_(1) T_(1) = n_(2) T_(2) implies n_(1) xx 302 = (2//3) n xx T_(2) implies T_(2) = (302 xx 3)//2 = 453 K = 180 ^(@) C`
