The distance between two particles movin...

The distance between two particles moving towards each other is decreasing at the rate of 6 m/s. If these particles travel with same speed and in the same direction then the separation increase at the rate of 4 m/s. The particles have speed as

A

5 m/s, 1 m/s

B

4 m/s, 1 m/s

C

4 m/s, 2 m/s

D

5 m/s, 2 m/s

The correct Answer is:
A

When two particles move towards each other, then `v_(1) +V_(2) =6`……..(1)
When these particles move in the same direction, then `v_(1) -V_(2)` = 4……….(2) Solving (1) and (2) we get `v_(1)-v_(2)=4`…….(2)
solving (1) and (2) we get `v_(1)=5` and `v_(2)=1 m//s`
