Define dipole moment.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The product of magnitude of positive or negative charge (q) distance between centres of positive and negative charge is called dipole moment. It is denoted by `mu`.
Mathematically, it is expressed as follow:
Dipole moment `(mu)` =charge (q) `xx` distance of sepration (r)
`mu= q zxx r`
