In a process , 701 j of heat is absorbed by a system and 394 j of work is done by the system. What is the change in internal energy for the proces ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We are given system = 701 J
Work done by the system = - 394 j
We are to calculate the internal energy. We know that
According to first law of thermodynamics, `Delta U or Delta E = q + w`
Substituting the values, we get
`Delta U or Delta E = 701 - 394 = 407 j`
So, change in internal energy is 407 j.
