Can we use concentrated `H_2SO_4` in the laboratory preparation of dihydrogen ? If not, then why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

No, we cannot use concentrated `H_2SO_4` in the laboratory preparation of dihydrogen. It is because concentrated `H_2SO_4` easily reacts with zinc and produces `SO_2`
`Zn + 2H_2SO_4 to ZnSO_4 + SO_2 + H_2O`
