Explain why hydrogen peroxide is stored in coloured plastic bottles ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Hydrogen peroxide cannot be stored in glass bottles because glass has rough surface and it can cause decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. To avoid this, glass surface must be coated with wax. It can be stored in coloured or plastic bottles, kept in refrigerator. To retard its decomposition, certain inhibitors like phosphoric acid, acetanilide or glycerol etc., can also be used.
