Discuss the effect of catalyst on the activation energy.

Catalyst lowers the activation energy. It provides an alternate path for the reaction. Catalyst increases the rate of reaction by lowering the activation energy. Lower the activation energy, faster will be the rate of reaction. It can be shown diagrammatically as :
