Oxygen exists as diatomic gas (`O_2` ). The two oxygen atoms are bonded by a double pond (O=O). Sulphur, selenium and tellurium have polyatomic molecules. Multiple bonding does not occur in sulphur because oflarge size. Sulphur has a puckered ring structure·. In this structme eight sulphur atoms are linked together. Sulphur (`S_(8)` ) has high molecular mass and exists as solid at room temperature.
