The two O-O bond lengths in ozone molecule are identical explain ?

Text Solution

Resonance hybrid of the following two resonating structures (I and II). Because of resonance, both the O-O bonds have partial double bond character. In other words, both the O - O bonds are equal (128 pm) and lie in between those of oxygen - oxygen double bond length of 110 pm and oxygen-oxygen single bond length of 148 pm.
