Give the preparation and properties of sulphur dioxide (`SO_(2)` ).

Preparation : i) `SO_(2)` is prepared by heating Cu with sulphuric acid.
`Cu + 2H_(2)SO_(4) rarr CuSO_(4) + SO_(2) + 2H_(2)O`
ii) By reacting sulphite with dilute sulphuric acid. `SO_(3)^(2-) + H_(2)SO_(4) rarr H_(2)O(l) + SO_(2)(g)`
Properties :
i) Sulphur dioxide decomposes at l 200°C to form sulphur trioxide.
`2SO_(2) + O_(2) overset(V_(2)O_(5))rarr 2SO_(3)`
iii) Sulphur dioxide combines with chlorine to form sulphuryl chloride, `SO_(2)Cl_(2)`.
`SO_(2)(g) + Cl_(2)(g) rarr SO_(2)Cl_(2)(l)`
