Derive the relation between linear velocity and angular velocity.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let us consider an object moving with linear velocity v in a circular path of radius r. Let `Delta S` be small distance moved by the object in time`Deltat.`
Angular speed, `omega = ( Delta theta)/( Delta t ) " "...(i)`
Linear speed of particle is given by
`v = ( Delta S )/( Delta t )`
But `Delta S = r Delta theta . So v = r ((Delta theta )/( Delta t )) " "...(ii)`
Therefore `v = omega r.`
