Explain how a cat is able to land gently on its feet after a fall taking the advantage of the law of conervation of angular momentu?

Text Solution

According to law of conservation of angular momentum,
`Iomega` = constant `implies omega prop 1//I`
When a cat lands, it stretches its tail. Due to this its M.I. increases and hence angular speed decreases. Thus, the cat lands safely after the fall.
