The air near the equator is heated by the sun . The heated air rises upwards and the colder air from polar region moves toward equator where it cools and again moves towards the equator . But , due to rotation of earth from west to east , the convection current drift towards the east Thus convection current of air blows from north -east towards the equator , this is called trade winds .
