Find the current in the sliding rod AB (resitance = R) for the arrangement shown in Fig.EP.6.30. vecB is constant and is out of the paper. Parallel wires have no resistance vecv is constant. Switch S is closed at time t=0

Two long straight, current-carrying conductors , PQ and XY, are held a constant distance apart as shown in the figure. The conductors carry the magnitude of current in the same direction . A plan view form above the conductors is shown in the figure. Draw arrows, one in each case, to show the direction of the magnetic field at Q due to the current in wire XY. the force at Q as a result of the magnetic field due to the current in wire XY.

A magnetic filed vecB=B_0 sin"(omega t)hatk covers a large region where a wire AB slides smoothly over two parallel conductors separated by a distance d (Fig. EP 6.22). The wires are in the x-y plane. The wire AB (of length d) has resistance R and parallel wires have negligible resistance. If AB is moving with velocity v, what is the current in the circuit? what is the force needed to keep the wire moving at constant velocity?

Five long wires A, B, C, D and E, each carrying current I are arranged to form edges of a pentagonal prism as shown in Fig. EP 4.29. Each carries current out of the plane of paper. What will be magnetic induction at a point on the axis O? Axis is at a distance R from each wire.

A metallic wire carrying a current I is bent into the form as shown in the figure. The circular portion ABC of the wire is of radius r and the straight portion AC subtends an angle 2theta at the centre O. Find the magnetic field due to the conductor at point O. If the radius of the curved path is r, find the magnetic field at the centre O.

The two parallel circular loops of wire shown in fig each have a radius R = 20 cm and are separated by a distance a = 0.5 cm. The bottom loop is held fixed and the top loop hangs from one end of the arm of an equal arm balance. Since a is much smaller than R, the magnetic field produced by one loop at the other is practically the same as if both were long straight wires. if the curret in each loop is 20 A, how big is the force of attraction of one loop for the other?

How much additional mass m must be added to the right-hand pan of the balance to keep the loops separated by 0.5 cm, when the currents are turned on?

A conducting rod PQ of length 20 cm and resistance 0.1 Omega rests on two smooth parallel rqails of negligible resistance AA' and CC'. Two long straight parallel wieres are 2m apart, perpendicular to the plane of the paper. The wire A carries a current of 9.6 A, directed into the plane of the paper. The wire B carries a current such that the magnetic field of induction at the point P, at a distance of 10/11 m from the wire B, is zero. find the magnitude of the magnetic field of induction of the pont S.
