Consider the following first order competing reactions:
`X overset(k_(1)) to A + B` and `Y overset(k_(2)) to C + D`
If 50% of the reaction of X was completed when 96% of the reaction of Y was completed, the ratio of thoir rate constant (`k_2 // k_1`) is:

A

4.6

B

`4.06`

C

1.123

D

2.303

For 50% completion of P : `t = (0.693)/(k_(1))` ie, `k_(1) = (0.693)/(6)` …(1)
for 96% completion of Q : `t = (2.303)/(k_(2))log((100)/(100-96)) therefore k_(2) = (2.303 xx 1.398)/(t)` …(ii)
Dividing eq. (ii) by eq. (i) `(k_(2))/(k_(1)) =4.6`
