माना कि स्टेशन A तथा स्टेशन B के बीच की दूरी d km है एवं दोनों रेलगाड़ियाँ 7 बजे, t समय के बाद आपस में मिलते हैं।
`therefore d/4 xx t + d/7 xx 2 xx (t - 1) = d`
`implies t/4 + (2(t -1))/(7) = 1`
`implies (7t + 8t - 8)/(28) = 1`
`implies 15 t = 28 + 8 = 36`
`implies t = 36/15 xx 60 = 144` मिनट
= 2 घंटा 24 मिनट
