माना कि घड़ी का सूची मूल्य Rs 100 था।
`therefore` सचिन के लिए घड़ी का क्रयमूल्य = 100 -100 का 30%
= Rs 70
40% लाभ पर बेचने के बाद घड़ी का मूल्य + 70 +`(70 xx40)/100` = Rs 98
`therefore` सूची मूल्य पर हुई % हानि = `(100 -98/100)xx100` = 2%
